CSR Gyprock Plays an Integral Role in 5 Star Green Star Rating for CSR’s New HQ
23 June, 2010

In January 2010, CSR relocated its headquarters to a new Green Star premises located at Stockland Triniti Campus in North Ryde. CSR was recently awarded a 5 Star Green Star – Office Interiors v1.1 rating for the fitout of its new offices.
Rob Ferrari, Gyprock Commercial Segment Manager, says, “There were a number of CSR Gyprock products used in the fitout which have a significant environmental advantage, and these were instrumental in helping us to achieve the Green Star certification.
“For example, Gyprock EC08™ Fire plasterboard, a fire grade board with high acoustic properties, was the first Australian-made plasterboard to be certified by Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA). The application of this product assisted by reducing the documentation required to contribute to the Green Star certification points for the fitout.
“In addition, the use of Gyprock compounds, adhesives and sealants, all of which have low VOCs and are CETEC approved, had a positive impact on Green Star credits.”
Other CSR products used throughout the fitout and also the building include: Bradford Insulation, Cemintel Fibre Cement, Fricker Ceiling Systems, Hebel Aerated Concrete, Rockcore & Alturi Panel Systems and Viridian Glass.
The move to Triniti III provided CSR with an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability by bringing together all of its brands and applying them to create one outstanding building.
CSR’s Chief Executive Officer of Building Products and Aluminium Division, Rob Sindel, says, “Our vision for the new headquarters was for a sustainable workplace that encouraged innovation and collaboration between business units, and provided up-to-the-minute facilities and technology.”
The new initiatives, together with the smart green building features are expected to deliver carbon emissions reduction of around 50 per cent in the first year for the head office premises.
“The Green Star certification, together with CSR’s commitment to the environment, helps us to attract good employees into the organisation and reflects CSR’s desire to improve our safety, health and environmental performance,” comments Rob Sindel.
