Environmental tick for Gyprock EC08™

In an industry first, Gyprock has launched Gyprock EC08™, the only Australian-made plasterboard to be certified by Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA).

As building practices become more sustainable and the green building market increases rapidly, the need for better environmental building products grows. Gyprock EC08™ has been designed to meet industry needs and can contribute to Green Star points, through the material product, acoustic performance or waste minimisation.

The team at Gyprock wanted to develop environmentally friendly plasterboard. After months of research and development, the result was Gyprock EC08™ with the new reCore™ technology.

“We are very excited that this project not only resulted in a new product that achieved GECA certification, but has also produced new technology that will help lead to further product development,” Marketing Manager, Commercial Robert Ferrari said.

Gyprock EC08™ is not only produced with the highest level of recyclable content found in the Gyprock™ range of fire grade and standard plasterboard, but can also be recycled rather than add to the growing waste problem – important factors in gaining the GECA certification.

Robert Ferrari believes Gyprock EC08™ is unique in the form of its higher level of recycled content in the plasterboard’s core and its ability to meet BCA fire and acoustic requirements.

“Gyprock EC08™ is a fire grade board with higher acoustic properties compared to standard plasterboard. It has the equivalent fire and acoustic properties of 13mm Fyrchek which can be used in wall and ceiling systems, is fire resistant and beneficial where improved acoustic performance is required,” Mr Ferrari said.

Light green in colour, Gyprock EC08™ is available in 13mm thickness and in three dimensions1200 x 2700, 1200 x 3000 and 1200 x 3600mm. Installation of Gyprock EC08™ is practical and simple – install as per standard plasterboard practice.
