Toombul Music Brings the Sound Down
04 February, 2012
Gyprock Soundchek™, Australia’s first acoustic plasterboard, is becoming an integral part of many home theatre constructions, thanks to its superior sound reduction advantages.
The benefits of this specialty plasterboard are being showcased at Toombul Music, Queensland. The leading electronics retailer recently installed two Sound Lounges at its retail store in north Brisbane, featuring Gyprock Soundchek™ Level 2 wall systems to reduce noise transfer between rooms by up to 75%.
Developed by Gyprock™, Australia’s leading plasterboard manufacturer, Gyprock Soundchek™ is designed to stop or reduce the transfer of unwanted noise through walls and ceilings. Its super high-density construction and sound dampening characteristics mean it can cut noise ranging from loud conversation to television and music at high levels.
Gyprock Soundchek™ is available in two levels. Level 1 includes two layers of Gyprock Soundchek™ plasterboard teamed with Bradford SoundScreen™ Insulation. This provides up to 50% reduction in noise carried between rooms. Level 2 features Gyprock™ Resilient Mounts, which helps cut noise transmission by up to 75%.
The new Sound Lounges contribute to Toombul Music’s Electronic Interiors division, which provides customers with a complete solution to home electronic systems. Toombul Music consultants work with each customer to tailor systems for the entire house, encompassing home entertainment, security, home automation and lighting control. Customers can visit the ‘Sound Lounges’, which are set up like a typical lounge room to experience the automated systems, and understand how Gyprock Soundchek™ can cut noise transfer to other rooms. A cutaway feature in the wall displays the construction of the Gyprock Soundchek™ Level 2 wall system.
Toombul Music Manager Justin Bull said the specialty wall system was a key part of the Electronic Interiors offering.
“We provide a one-stop-shop for designing advanced electronic systems for the house. People are spending a lot of money on home theatre systems these days to achieve the movie effect at home. A very important element of this is containing the sound so it doesn’t disrupt the rest of the house. That’s where Gyprock Soundchek™ comes in – it allows people to enjoy these home theatres but still maintain peace and quiet in other areas of their home,” Bull said.
Gyprock Soundchek™ is part of the Gyprock™ High Performance range of wall and ceiling systems which are designed to deliver a range of lifestyle benefits, including reduced noise transfer between rooms, improved impact resistance, better protection against moisture damage, greater resistance against the spread of fire and improved interior aesthetics through a range of decorative cornices.
