Gyprock EC08 Complete is part of Gyprock’s Commercial Specialty Options range of plasterboards. It is specifically designed to meet the highest standards across a broad range of performance requirements for specialised construction projects and Green Star building.
This low VOC, multi-function plasterboard has the highest level of specification in the Gyprock range with superior performance for mould, impact, fire, acoustic and moisture resistance.
Gyprock EC08 Complete is manufactured in Australia to Australian Standard AS2588 and the heavy-duty face paper is a green colour.
CSR Gyprock is proud to be a partner of the National Asthma Council Australia’s Sensitive Choice program. Research indicates that 10% of Australians suffer from asthma and over 30% of the population has allergies. The Sensitive Choice program identifies products that are a better choice for asthma, eczema and allergy sufferers. Gyprock EC08™ Complete is a low VOC plasterboard with superior mould resistance that is approved by the Sensitive Choice program as a better choice for health projects.
The consistently high quality of Gyprock products is maintained by a continued focus on quality control and product testing. Internal testing to AS2588 is conducted in a CSR, NATA Accredited Laboratory. Independent specialist testing consultants are also used.
Mould resistant – for the ultimate in hygiene
Mould resistance is a consideration in specialised projects where a higher level of focus is placed on issues of occupant health and comfort such as Aged Care.
EC08 Complete achieves the best possible score in the ASTM G-21 test for mould growth. No other wall lining material available in Australia achieves a better result. This plasterboard is a low VOC product and is classified as non-carcinogenic. EC08 Complete is approved by the National Asthma Council Australia's Sensitive Choice program as a better choice for asthma and allergy suffers.
Impact resistant – for high traffic areas
Hard body impact
Hard body impact resistance is generally required where there is a risk of direct impact damage such as in hospital corridors.
For this test, a 50mm diameter steel ball is dropped onto the board from increasing heights until failure occurs. Gyprock EC08 Complete provides the highest levels of hard body impact of any Gyprock plasterboard.
Soft body impact
Soft body impact resistance is generally an issue where there is a risk of someone falling against or putting pressure against a wall.
To test for soft body impact resistance, a weighted bag (27.2kg) is swung on a pendulum from increasing heights to strike the board sample until failure occurs. Gyprock EC08 Complete outperforms all other boards in the Gyprock impact plasterboard range for soft body impact.
Walls lined with EC08 Complete 13mm and 16mm were tested and passed the requirements of BCA/NCC Specification C1.8 clause 3.4 (c) Walls Generally for Impact Resistance.
Fire rated – for fire and smoke walls
The BCA/NCC limits the materials used in Class 2 to 9 buildings by controlling the Fire Hazard properties of linings. These properties are assessed using AS/NZS3837 cone calorimeter test. Gyprock EC08 Complete satisfies the requirements of the Average Specific Extinction Area standard and achieves a Group 1 rating – the best available.
When incorporated in a recommended Gyprock EC08 system, fire ratings of up to –/120/120 FRL can be achieved in accordance with AS1530.4. Please refer to the Gyprock Red Book for further details.
Acoustic rated – for better sound insulation
The density, or mass of a wall lining material directly affects the wall’s ability to insulate against sound transmission. Gyprock EC08 Complete is manufactured to a mass of 12.4kg/m2 (13mm board) and 14.8kg/m2 (16mm board).
A standard EC08 Complete system in a configuration of 64mm 0.5 BMT studs with 75mm 14kg/m3 glasswool batts achieved Rw47 when tested to ASA1276.1.
Higher acoustic rated systems are easily achieved with EC08 Complete. Please refer to the Gyprock Red Book for further details.
Moisture resistant – for wet areas
This provides superior moisture resistance and EC08 Complete exceeds AS/NZS 2588:1998 Gypsum Plasterboard, for water resistant plasterboard, with water absorption of less than 2.5% over 2 hours (where the industry standard is 5%) and less than 5% over 24 hours.
Ideal for Green Star building
Along with the majority of Gyprock plasterboards, EC08 Complete is accredited to the latest Good Environmental Choice Australia 04 – 2011 Panel Boards Standard (GECA) which is compliant with the requirements of the Green Building Council of Australia’s Assessment Framework for product certification schemes.
Gyprock’s GECA accredited plasterboard and compound products can contribute to Green Star Points in the Green Star Design & As Built rating tool. EC08 Complete is also manufactured with a high level of recycled content that may further assist in the achievement of Green Star Points.
EC08 Complete is available in in 13mm and 16mm thickness in 1200mm wide panels. The standard lengths are 3600mm (13mm) and 3000mm (16mm). Custom lengths are available subject to minimum quantities. Not all sizes are available in all states. The long edges of all panels are recessed for flush jointing.
EC08 Complete is predominantly specified for commercial green building projects where a combination of mould, impact, fire, acoustic and moisture resistance is required.
