Builders Opting For Greener Solutions

Since its launch in 2008, Gyprock’s EC08 range of plasterboard lining solutions has gone from strength to strength, with many high profile buildings now featuring the low VOC environmentally friendly product which enhances a development’s green rating.

In 2011, Gyprock introduced a sixth product to the GECA certified plasterboard range; EC08 Complete, which is a fire and acoustic rated plasterboard that has been specifically formulated to provide the additional benefits of impact, moisture and mould resistance. All performance characteristics of Gyprock EC08 Complete have been tested to meet or exceed stringent standards.

Renee Bailey, Gyprock Product Manager, believes that the combination of performance characteristics is unique to EC08 Complete, with no other Australian manufactured plasterboard offering the same range of benefits.

“EC08 Complete incorporates a highly effective mould inhibitor and both the board’s surface and core effectively prevent the growth of mould,” said Renee.

“No other wall lining material available in Australia achieves a better result in the ASTM G-21 test for mould growth than EC08 Complete.”

Frasers Property Australia and joint developer Sekisui House selected EC08 products for their $2 billion Central Park development in Sydney’s Chippendale which on completion, is aiming for a five star Green Star rating.

Other projects that have taken advantage of EC08’s range of plasterboard solutions include:

Namadgi School in Canberra, ACT

The school was completed three years ago and was designed with a heavy focus on environmental sustainability that extends to its Urambi Environment Centre which teaches students sustainable environmental practices.

University of Wollongong, NSW

University of Wollongong is the recipient of Australia’s first Simulation, Modelling and Analysis for Research and Teaching (SMART) centre, housing 30 state-of-the-art laboratories. All levels of the building had Gyprock EC08 products installed, except the ground level where fibre cement was specified due to the heavy engineering workshop areas.
